JUNE IN OCTOBER present their new EP „Status Quo“

JUNE IN OCTOBER present their new EP “Status Quo” – welcome to Listen Closely!

You don’t necessarily need direct contact with the ground to feel solid ground under your feet. If you get involved in the fragility of uncertainty, the fear of a deep fall is repeatedly revealed as an illusion.
Chamber music pop songs with a focus on an organic band sound and a wealth of timbres. An invitation to embrace uncertainty and recharge your batteries with confidence.

The debut album “My Feet on Solid Ground” will be followed in February 2024 by the release of the EP “Status Quo” on Listen Closely Records, as well as the release of six live videos of the recording session.

The Shop is available right here in our Shop.

KO-AX present their second album “immersion”

We are happy to present the second album of KO-AX and welcome the band as a label newcomer at Listen Closely!

KO-AX goes back to a term originating from geometry and describes a three-dimensional element that has a common axis of reference. This metaphor becomes the premise in the music of Lukas Leitner (piano, synthesizer), Walter Singer (double bass) and Lukas Laimer (drums): Interaction comes to the fore, individual insertions are coaxially united.

With their new program immersion, the piano trio KO-AX now delves further into their very own musical cosmos. Even more determined than in their debut album Loose Frames, the band dedicates itself to a concept of music beyond genre pigeonholes: Starting with reduced compositions, the three musicians fuse jazz and improvisation with borrowings from rock, electronic music, new music, etc. to create an intoxicating mixture that knows how to unfold its effect especially live. Minimal music elements meet synthesizer pads, twelve-tone rows meet energetic grooves and catchy melodies meet fragile harmonies.

The new CD is available in our store, and of course at concerts of KO-AX concerts. Digitally, the album is accessible here.

Memplex release their third Album “Villains”

“Memplex present their third album “Villains”.

After almost 2 years of pandemic silence we needed to fill the void with fresh music. When we met up in the studio to record Villains we were as inspired as it gets. We feel that we captured some magic and we sincerely hope you can feel it too.

A lot has happened with these gentlemen since their debut album Souvenir (2012), and every single member of this band can now look back on a noteworthy career that shines all the way into the international jazz landscape. To the blessing of the band, each of the five musicians contributed his songs.

The music of the current album is now quite related to the crisis-intensive time in which we live; it gives comfort, wakes up, stirs up, gives support, celebrates the moment; and hopefully serves to inspire the audience… not to let the villains win.”

CALIBAN ISLAND – Oberian

Als thematische Vorlage dient Shakespeares “The Tempest“.

Magdalena Zenz, Violine
Florian Sighartner, Violine
Jakob Suchentrunk, Viola
Carles Muñoz-Camarero, Cello
Walter Singer, Kontrabass
